Badlands National Park is an American national park located in southwestern South Dakota. The park protects 242,756 acres of sharply eroded buttes and pinnacles, along with the largest undisturbed mixed grass prairie in the United States.
Unique rock layers, steep canyons, and hiking trails with wonderful vistas. Lots of bison and bighorn sheep too! About 1hr. drive from Rapid City.
Beautiful place to visit any time of year. During the summer, you can hike and explore, or just drive around the rim enjoying the amazing colors of the rocks. In the winter, you can enjoy the views of the snow dusting the steep canyons and towering spires. Look for Prairie Dogs on the drive there.
