A very interesting visit, a museum dedicated to telling the story of Captain Cooks Voyages in the 17th Century, the Building is where he actually stayed when not at sea.
Whitby is the home port of Captain James Cook, 2018 was the 250th anniversary of his first voyage of discovery abroad a Whitby-built former colliery, HMS Endeavour. During that odyssey Cook surveyed the coastline of New Zealand and made landfall near modern-day Sydney, Australia, in a beautiful cove he called Botany Bay.
There are a few museums in Whitby but if you want to learn about Captain Cooks ventures this is worth a visit. Cook trained as a seaman in Whitby and the museum is where he lodged as an apprentice. A replica of the Endeavour is now in Whitby.
We love this place. Gorgeous house dedicated to telling the story of his life.
