Tips from locals
The moastery is a centre of culture under various forms and many great names of Romanian history have stayed here. At Easter or Christmas, the service is magnificent. Just minutes away by foot from the appartment.
One of the most beautiful monasteries in Romania, it was founded by Prince Mihail Cantacuzino in 1695.
If Sinaia ever sounded familiar to you, it’s because it indeed takes its name after the Sinai Mountain and the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, which Mihai Cantacuzino, a ruler at that time, visited at the end of the XVII century, before returning home and deciding to build the Sinaia Monastery, at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains, in an untouched forest area.
