Some say they make the best King cakes. The savory meat pies and pastries, as well as the mystery meat vietnamese po-boys are pretty damn good for $3 or so. The restaurant side closes early so for some, often phenomenal pho, don't wait till dinner time. Gets crazy busy at noon so prepare to wait if you can't do an early or late lunch. You're going to want to drive here. This is where you get a poboy for 3 bucks.

Do you want to see New Orleans East? This is out past the abandoned six flags. A cool drive if you're here for multiple days. People don't realize New Orleans was onto Banh Mi and Vietnamese food way before the rest of the country. This is the mecca. $3 Banh Mis. Buy bread for back home. Buy a pastry for 50 cents. Pretend it's still 1985 with the prices and decor.

Down the street from Ba Mien. Go here for the Vietnamese Bakery (cakes, meat pies, Vietnamese French bread, etc).
