Paladar Sandy Playa Jaimanitas

Why locals recommend it

A great place to catch waves is the beach right next to the Hemingway Marina, west of town. Local surfers call it “The Society.” It used to be a recreation area with natural pools, but was eventually abandoned and left to erode by the sea wall. You wouldn’t think of it by looking at it, but it’s a very good place for surfing and kitesurfing. The spot can be a bit difficult to find. One way is to pass through the town of Jaimanitas and ask someone to point you in the right direction. Or, just find the river and paddle toward the ocean—the beach is right at the mouth of the river.
