Beautiful falls at the site of an old lumber mill. A gentle, paved hike with lovely creek and forest views on the lower portion, and beautiful views of the river and highway from the basalt cliffs on the upper portion. Be sure to hike both!
One of the most accessible falls a short drive from Portland. Family friendly with a baby carrier.
Great little hike with a lotta bang for very a low-effort buck! Beautiful double-tiered waterfall with a twist, cute wooden bridges over the river, and old growth trees. Easy, short, mostly paved trail with stairs and handrails at the steepest points and benches to rest along the way. A great choice for young kids or older folks. (There's also an alternate, handicap-accessible paved route that doesn't go down to the falls but offers nice river/gorge views.) Hardcore hiking enthusiasts would not consider this an actual hike — more of a nice walk in the woods with some elevation — but it's still worth doing because the falls are so nice. As with any trailhead in the gorge, do not leave ANY valuables in your car. (I even leave my glovebox open to show there's nothing inside.)
