This church is one of the main attractions of Helsinki. It is surrounded by buildings of neoclassical architecture. The church itself is not in its original form, it was ”redesigned” under Russian rule and not all changes have been removed. 7 apostles were not part of the original design nor the painted stars on the dome.
Helsinki Cathedral is the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran cathedral, located in the neighborhood of Kruununhaka in the centre of Helsinki, Finland at the Senate Square. The church was originally built from 1830–1852 as a tribute to the Grand Duke of Finland, Tsar Nicholas I of Russia.
