Tips from locals
Quirky roadside oddity attraction! Worth the stop in if you enjoy off the beaten path attractions. Approx 20 min away.
Also known as the UCM ("you-see-em") Museum, the Abita Mystery House is a roadside attraction in Abita Springs about 40 minutes north of New Orleans' French Quarter. Louisiana's most eccentric museum and gift shop is a folk art environment with thousands of found objects and homemade inventions. A vintage gas station serves as the entrance for a labyrinth of buildings connected by walkways. The collection includes interactive vignettes of Southern life, memorabilia, old arcade machines, a hand-cranked piano, as well as more than 50,000 found and recycled objects presented creatively and with humor by artist/impresario John Preble.
