Tips from locals
Petroglyph National Monument protects one of the largest petroglyph sites in North America, featuring designs and symbols carved onto volcanic rocks by Native Americans and Spanish settlers 400 to 700 years ago.
Awesome trails to hike through the historic Petroglyph National Monument. Great views and lots of history!
If you have never seen petroglyphs before, this place is a worth the trip to the West Side. Really good examples of preserved petroglyphs. Wear a hat and sunscreen and bring plenty of water. Go in the early part of the day before it gets hot.
There are three trails from the visitor centers that are different lengths & difficulties.
