Tips from locals
Situated in a leafy suburb of Glasgow, this is a large, amazing (ruined) castle on the Clyde built of beautiful red sandstone. Looked after by Historic Scotland.
Bothwell Castle is a large medieval castle, sited on a high, steep bank, above a bend in the River Clyde in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located between Bothwell and Uddingston, about 10 miles (16 km) south-east of Glasgow.
Amazing ruin of an ancient castle. Lovely river walks as well and some great restaurants in Bothwell Village. Lovely place and only a short drive away. If getting the train, get the train from Clydebank to Glasgow Central then get a train to Uddingston. From there castle is a 20 min walk. Lovely area to walk round.
