Tips from locals
Just over an hours drive away through some of the most stunning Scottish scenery, you find the gem of a bar restaurant on the beachfront at Glenelg. A great day trip to explore the Highlands and a lovely beach too.
A lovely drive over the hill from the cottage, you'll find a friendly traditional pub with an open fire, dog friendly, excellent beer garden and great pub food. In the summer you can take a short 15 minute ferry (on the last ferry of its kind, a turn table ferry) to South Skye, great travellers hack.
The local pub which does evening meals, please check their website or facebook page for opening times.
The only place to eat dinner in Glenelg is the Glenelg Inn, which has a fantastic restaurant but it is absolutely VITAL you book ahead - at least a day and half in advance - as they are so busy over the summer season. To book a table call 01599 522 273.
This is the local inn with pub and restaurant, with great food. Best to book in advance as it gets quite busy in the summer months. Also, you can also book-in for full-cooked breakfast in the dining room. There are takeaway breakfasts from 10am-12pm, and takeaways for fish and chips in the evenings till 7pm.
