Why locals recommend it
There's art everywhere in this place—every little crevice you look into, you’ll find detail of the 1920s, which is really beautiful. The food is yummy and the drinks are divine, and every Friday and Saturday night at 10pm they host Clifton’s at Night, where you can go see free music—one of my favorites to see here is the California Feetwarmers! Be sure to get a drink at the gorgeous Gothic bar and enjoy it by the huge fireplace.

Tips from locals
Amazing vibe with mixed crowds from local youngsters to mellow folks. Food is ok!
To call this play a bar is to sell it short — you have to pop your head in here on a Friday or Saturday. An amazing, multi-level space with live entertainment—burlesque, big band, jazz, swing—and no cover charge. The owner poured something like $14 million into restoring this place from the iconic tiki-styled cafeteria that was its (much humbler) beginning. Can be a bit mobbed on on weekends, but it's always an interesting scene.
