Tips from locals
The Whaligoe Steps descend to what was a naturally formed harbour between two sea cliffs, built by Captain David Brodie.
Wonderful steps set into the cliff going down to an old fishing cove........tended by volunteers......you have got to be fit!
230 year old staircase up the cliff side from the sea near Ulbster. Marvel at the stunning work of local artisan stonemason & stone sculptor Charlie Juhle's ongoing restoration of this notable Caithness landmark. Can be a great site for seal spotting & watching bird life.
Fascinating (and challenging!) steps carved into the cliff with stunning views and a nice café! Not suitable for infirm or disabled.
